Bulletin: Senators extend deadline for Hockey Night in Barbados contest
Fans have until Jan. 15 to submit video entries
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced a deadline extension for their Hockey Night in Barbados contest. Fans will now have until Monday, Jan. 15 to submit a 60-second video clip showcasing their Sens spirit around the theme of Hockey Night in Barbados.
Sens fans are encouraged to be creative and reminded that videos need not be of professional calibre. Fans can use their digital camera, video on their phone or webcam to produce their 60-second clip and it can easily be uploaded online at the Hockey Night in Barbados Microsite. Videos entries can also be submitted by mail or in person at Scotiabank Place.
Throughout the contest period, selected video entries will be posted on the Hockey Night in Barbados Microsite. Nine semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges featuring Melnyk; Bert Inniss, founder of Bert's in Barbados, and Sandy Sharkey, co-host on 93.9 BOB FM's The Morning After. The semi-finalists will receive the unique chance to work with the Senators organization to develop a convincing video profile on why they should be crowned as Sens Army Captain.
All semi-finalists' videos will be featured on the Scotiabank Place videoboard during one of the team's home games. Fans will have the opportunity to vote online at the club's website or by text message. The grand-prize winner will be crowned Sens Army Captain on Barbados Night at Scotiabank Place, which is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 28, when the Senators host last year's Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Sens Army Captain will win a trip for two to Barbados from March 7 to 11, 2007, including airfare and hotel accommodation for four nights. On Thursday, March 8, the Sens Army Captain will join Melnyk and Inniss at Bert's to cheer on the Sens in the Battle of Ontario as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
