The Ottawa Senators will have three representatives at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game festivities in Dallas.
Today during the Senators home game against the Montreal Canadiens during CBC's Hockey Day in Canada, it was announced that veteran sniper Dany Heatley will represent the Eastern Conference in the 55th NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 24. Sophomores Patrick Eaves and Andrej Meszaros have been selected to skate in the NHL YoungStars Game, presented by Upper Deck on Jan. 23.
The Dodge Nitro SuperSkills event will also be held on Jan. 23.
This will be Heatley's second NHL all-star game appearance. In 2003, he was named the match's MVP after a four-goal performance in regulation. He also scored in a shootout.
Yesterday after practice, Heatley said: "Any time you get chosen for that (game), it's great. I've been there once before. It's a fun weekend. It would be an honour to go (again)."
Entering today's game, Heatley leads the Senators this season with 27 goals and 58 points to rank fifth overall in NHL scoring.
This will be the first all-star week appearance for Eaves and Meszaros. No all-star festivities were held during their rookie seasons last year because of the Winter Olympics.
Eaves, a winger, has nine goals and 22 points for Ottawa this season, and Meszaros, a defenceman, has four goals and 23 points.
