Bulletin: Ottawa Senators re-sign Ray Emery
OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray today announced the re-signing of goaltender Ray Emery to a three-year agreement. Audio from conference call (Bryan Murray; Ray Emery).

In his second full NHL season in 2006-07, Emery played in 58 regular season games earning 33 wins, 16 losses, and six overtime defeats. He finished tied for sixth in the NHL in shutouts (5), tied for seventh in save-percentage (.910) and tied for 13th in goals-against-average (2.47). The 24-year-old backstopped the Senators in all 20 post-season games, winning the Eastern Conference title with 13 wins, seven losses, three shutouts, a goals-against-average of 2.26 and a 0.907 save-percentage.

In 103 NHL career games with Ottawa since 2002-03, Emery has 59 wins, 27 losses, 15 defeats in overtime and shootouts. His career goals-against-average is 2.59, with a 0.912 save-percentage and eight shutouts. In post-season action, he has 18 wins and 12 losses over 30 games, three shutouts and a goals-against-average of 2.46.

A graduate of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Emery was drafted by the Senators in the fourth round, 99th overall, in the 2001 NHL draft. He played his first three pro seasons, from 2002-03 to 2004-05, with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton, N.Y. Over 154 regular-season games, he had 76 wins, 58 losses and 18 ties with a 2.51 goals-against average.
