Bulletin: Senators Reduce Roster To 35 Players
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today assigned 10 players to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, and returned another three players to their junior clubs. The Senators training camp roster, which numbered 48 on the opening day on Sept. 13, now stands at 35 players — four goaltenders, 11 defencemen and 20 forwards.

Making the four-hour drive to Binghamton, N.Y., with head coach Cory Clouston and assistant Mike Busniuk are defencemen Greg Amadio, Tomas Kudelka, Derek Smith, Geoff Waugh, and forwards Tyler Donati, Chaz Johnson, Greg Mauldin, Jim McKenzie, Shawn Weller and Jeremy Yablonski.

Clouston opens Binghamton’s 13-day training camp on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The B-Sens have three pre-season games: Wednesday, Sept. 26, versus Hershey in Binghamton; Friday, Sept. 28, at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton; and, Saturday, Sept. 29, against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in Binghamton. The Senators open the AHL regular season on the road in Albany, N.Y., against the River Rats on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Returning to their Canadian Hockey League clubs are goaltender Ryan Daniels, left-winger Kaspars Daugavins and centre Jim O’Brien. Goaltender Ryan Daniels returns to Saginaw of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for his fourth season. Left-winger Kaspars Daugavins enters his second season with Mississauga-St. Michael’s (OHL), and centre Jim O'Brien joins the Seattle  Thunderbirds  of the Western Hockey League for his rookie year.

The Ottawa Senators continue with their seven-game pre-season schedule tonight with their first home game against the Washington Capitals. Fewer than 3,500 tickets remain for tonight’s game (7 p.m. start). Another 2,500 tickets remain for the Senators’ home game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, Sept. 25, while 1,500 are left against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, Sept. 29.
