Bulletin: Sens Foundation Makes Largest One-Day Donation
OTTAWA – With its donation of $840,000 to 32 local charitable organizations today at Scotiabank Place, the Sens Foundation and the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club drew nearer to achieving $50 million in contributions to community initiatives in the National Capital Region since the hockey club’s return to the National Hockey League in 1992.

Under the ownership of Eugene Melnyk since August 2003, the Ottawa Senators together with the Sens Foundation, alumni, partners and fans, have contributed more than $35 million to community initiatives. Among the organization’s many accomplishments are the creation of Roger’s House, a pediatric and palliative care facility located on the grounds at CHEO, which opened in April 2006, and the construction of Bell Sensplex, a multi-use facility that has welcomed minor hockey, figure skating, soccer and other sports and community events since December 2004.

Launched in October 1998, the Sens Foundation provides direct financial aid to organizations within the eastern Ontario and western Quebec regions that service disadvantaged youth. Today’s beneficiary day featured the Sens Foundation, along with co-event fundraisers and corporate partners, presenting cheques to the following 32 local charitable organizations:
