Bulletin: Senators Assign Mattias Karlsson to Bofors IK of Swedish Elite League
After undergoing rehab for a right knee injury he suffered in Sweden in August, Karlsson was assigned to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, on Oct. 13. The 22-year-old played in two of three games for the B-Sens, recording no points or penalty minutes.
Karlsson, Ottawa’s fourth-round selection (135th overall) in the 2003 NHL entry draft, attended the Senators’ development camp in early July. He has three years experience in the Swedish Elite League, playing with Brynäs and last season with Bofors IK. Born in Stora, Sweden, Karlsson was tied for the team lead in scoring with 32 points (11 goals) in 2006-07 and added 34 penalty minutes in 44 games.
