Bulletin: Senators Re-sign Kelly To Four-year Contract
In his third full NHL season, Kelly registered 11 goals, 19 assists and 30 penalty minutes while appearing in 75 games with the club.
Since Kelly’s first four NHL games during the 2003-04 campaign, the 27-year-old has recorded 36 goals, 62 assists and 146 penalty minutes over 243 regular-season games. He has also contributed seven points (3-4) and six penalty minutes in 30 career playoff games. He had played in 239 consecutive regular-season games since the start of the 2005-06 season prior to suffering a hairline fracture of his right leg that caused him to miss the final seven games of the regular season and the playoffs.
The Toronto native recorded his best season in 2006-07, scoring 15 goals and adding 23 assists for 38 points in 82 games. Kelly spent three seasons with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators – the last two as team captain in 2003-04 and 2004-05. He recorded 56 goals and 69 assists for 125 points in 208 AHL games.
Kelly was Ottawa’s third-round pick (94th overall) in the 1999 NHL draft.
