Bulletin: Senators join in launch of Sacred Heart HS's fundraising program
Stittsville school raises more than $150,000 selling Senators tickets
Senators president and CEO Roy Mlakar, right-winger Chris Neil and Spartacat will assist in the launch at the school, located just five and a half kilometres from Scotiabank Place.
During the coming Senators season, students will be selling tickets at all price levels, with $10 from each ticket going towards the school, and the balance to the Senators. For safety reasons, the students are restricted to selling tickets to family, friends and neighbours; and to co-workers at their parents’ place of employment.
“Sacred Heart is excited to launch the fundraiser for the fifth year,” said Alain Gareau, a teacher at Sacred Heart High School and the fundraising co-ordinator. “We are all challenged to support learning, and this Senators initiative gives us the chance to supplement funds to acquire books, equipment, sports equipment, bleachers, computers pretty much everything.”
“The Senators are very proud of the dedication shown by Sacred Heart Catholic School’s student body in raising over $150,000 to better their school,” said Mlakar. “This program has proved to be an excellent model for other schools to assist in their fundraising initiatives and also to give the students a sense of accomplishment and contribution to their community.”
