Leeder earns top CA Institute honour
Sens president recognized for outstanding career achievements
The Ottawa Senators president is among 10 Ottawa-area chartered accountants to be elected as Fellows of the Institute. It is considered the profession's highest honour, with fellowship elections held only once every three years.
In all, 75 chartered accountants in the province will receive the coveted FCA designation at a ceremony in Toronto tonight. Fellowship is awarded for outstanding career achievements, as well as oustanding service to the community and the profession.
"It is with extreme honour that I am accepting election into the Fellowship of Chartered Accountants," said Leeder. "The number of chartered accountants in Ontario who earn this distinction is very small, so I am particularly proud to be considered among such exclusive company."
Leeder, one of the founding fathers of the modern Senators franchise, was elevated to the president's role in the organization in July. He was previously named 2008 Business Person of Year at the Ottawa Business Achievement Awards and is involved in a number of charitable community initiatives, including his position as a member of the board of directors of the Sens Foundation.
