OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled goaltender Mike Brodeur on an emergency basis from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
Brodeur, 27, has appeared in one game this season with Binghamton, earning the victory in a 5-1 defeat of Adirondack on Oct. 8, and three games with the Senators’ ECHL affiliate, the Elmira Jackals, where he has posted a record of 2-1-0. He turned aside 30 shots in a 5-0 shutout victory over Toledo in his most recent game last night.
The Calgary native made his National Hockey League debut one year ago today – Dec. 19, 2009 – stopping 22 of 23 shots to earn his first career victory in Ottawa’s 4-1 home win over the Minnesota Wild. The 6-2, 185-pound netminder has played in three NHL games, recording three wins, a .966 save-percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average with one shutout.
Brodeur is being recalled to replace Pascal Leclaire, who re-aggravated a lower body injury during the warmup prior to Ottawa’s game in Colorado on Dec. 17.
The Senators next see action this evening when they host the Washington Capitals at 7:30 p.m.
