OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned goaltender Robin Lehner to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Lehner was recalled on an emergency basis for a third time this season on Jan.12 to replace an injured Pascal Leclaire.

Lehner, 19, made his first NHL start and became the youngest goaltender to start a game for the Senators, stopping 20 shots in Ottawa’s 6-4 win over the New York Islanders on Jan. 13.
In three NHL games this season, Lehner has stopped 30 of the 34 shots he has faced and has posted a 2.55 goals-against-average.

A native of Goteborg, Sweden, Lehner has a record of 5-5-1 with a 2.65 goals-against-average and .912 save percentage in 12 games with the B-Sens this season. He earned his first professional shutout, making 33 saves in a 5-0 home win over the Syracuse Crunch on Nov. 7.

Lehner recently returned to Binghamton after being loaned to Sweden’s national junior team for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. Sweden finished fourth at the 10-team tournament. In three games at the world juniors, Lehner earned a record of 2-0-1, including a 2-0 shutout victory (30 saves) over Russia on Dec. 28 and a 6-5 shootout win over Canada on Dec. 31.

The B-Sens play their next game tonight when they host the Manchester Monarchs. Binghamton is in fifth place in the AHL’s East Division with 20 wins, 17 losses, two overtime losses and two shootout losses.
