OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has acquired a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2011 entry draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Alex Kovalev.

Kovalev, 38, who is in his 18th full season in the NHL, has played 1,282 career games, the last 131 with Ottawa. He has recorded 14 goals, 13 assists and 28 penalty minutes in 54 games with Ottawa this season.

A native of Togliatti, Russia, Kovalev was originally selected with the New York Rangers’ first-round pick, 15th overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed to a two-year contract by the Senators on July 6, 2009.
