Bulletin: Senators re-sign forward Zack Smith to a two-year contract
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has re-signed forward Zack Smith to a two-year, one-way contract.

Smith spent time with both the Senators and the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, this season. He set NHL career highs by playing 55 games, recording four goals and five assists, along with 120 penalty minutes. His 120 penalty minutes was the fourth-highest total among National Hockey League rookies this season. In parts of three seasons, Smith has recorded six goals, six assists and 134 penalty minutes in 71 career NHL games with the Senators.

A native of Maple Creek, Sask., Smith was re-assigned to Binghamton at the end of Ottawa’s regular season and has registered 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) over 17 post-season contests with the B-Sens in helping the club reach the 2011 Calder Cup final. He had 12 points (seven goals, five assists) and 21 penalty minutes in 22 regular-season games this season with Binghamton.

Smith was Ottawa’s third-round selection (79th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
