OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today the club has re-signed forward Colin Greening to a three-year, one-way contract.

Greening, 25, split the 2010-11 season with both the Senators and the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. In 59 games with the B-Sens he recorded 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists) while adding 41 penalty minutes. He also registered a plus-12 rating while finishing the season ranked second among team rookies in scoring.

A native of St. John’s, N.L., Greening was recalled by the Senators for the first time in his career on Jan. 31 and made his NHL debut two nights later in a 2-1 Ottawa loss at New Jersey. In 24 regular-season games with the Senators, Greening registered 13 points (six goals, seven assists) and 10 penalty minutes while concluding the season ranked second among Ottawa team rookies in scoring. He is also one of three team rookies (Butler, Condra) to record multiple-goal games this year.

Upon reassignment to Binghamton at the end of Ottawa’s regular season, Greening has helped the B-Sens advance to the 2011 Calder Cup final, recording three points (one goal, two assists) over 17 post-season contests.

Greening was Ottawa’s seventh-round selection, 204th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
