OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, May 27, to Friday, June 3.
Jewish Federation of Ottawa Annual General Meeting
Date: Wednesday, June 1
Location: Social Hall – Joseph and Rose Ages Family Building (21 Nadolny Sachs Private, Ottawa)
Time: 7 p.m.
Senators president Cyril Leeder will attend the Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s 77th annual general meeting on Wednesday, June 1, in support of Senators season seat owner Ian Sherman, who will be receiving the Gilbert Greenberg Distinguished Service Award. It represents the highest tribute the Ottawa Jewish Community can bestow on one individual in recognition of exceptional service to the community.
TEAM Cornwall Annual General Meeting
Date: Friday, June 3
Location: Benson Centre, 700 Seventh Street West (Cornwall, Ont.)
Time: 7:30 a.m.
Senators president Cyril Leeder will serve as the keynote speaker as the city of Cornwall celebrates the recent opening of the new Benson Centre. The multi-sport facility, which opened earlier this month, features three NHL-size ice pads in addition to an indoor soccer pitch and tennis court.
Leeder will later be joined by the team’s director of player personnel, Pierre Dorion, and Senators forward Jesse Winchester for a question and answer hot stove session with members of the audience. Tickets are available to the public for $10 and can be purchased by calling 613-938-4748.

Spartacat Appearances
Date: Friday, May 27
Location: Bayshore Catholic School Gym (50 Bayshore Drive, Ottawa)
Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will join Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, city councillor Mark Taylor and Max Keeping to celebrate Canadian Tire Jumpstart Day, which will be held Saturday. Sparty will join students and dignitaries for a game of ball hockey and a photo opportunity shortly after 12:30 p.m. Canadian Tire Jumpstart Day is held annually to raise funds in support of area youth. Last year’s event saw sufficient funding raised to enable almost 18,000 children’s participation in organized sports and recreation throughout the summer.
On Saturday, Spartacat will visit the Canadian Tire location at 3910 Innes Road (Orleans, Ont.) from 11 a.m. to noon.
Sparty will also participate in this year’s annual Tim Hortons Camp Day on Wednesday, June 1, at a still to be determined location.
