Bulletin: The Senators In Your Community From June 2 to June 9
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Thursday, June 2, to Thursday, June 9.

TEAM Cornwall Annual General Meeting

Date: Friday, June 3
Location: Benson Centre, 700 Seventh Street West (Cornwall, Ont.)
Time: 7:30 a.m.

Senators president Cyril Leeder will serve as the keynote speaker as the city of Cornwall celebrates the recent opening of the new Benson Centre. The multi-sport facility, which opened earlier this month, features three NHL-size ice pads in addition to an indoor soccer pitch and tennis court.

Leeder will later be joined by the team’s director of player personnel, Pierre Dorion, and Senators forward Jesse Winchester for a question-and-answer hot stove session with members of the audience. Tickets are available to the public for $10 and can be purchased by calling 613-938-4748.

St. Columban's Catholic School Visit


Date: Friday, June 3
Location: 323 Augustus Street (Cornwall, Ont.)
Time: 9:45 a.m.

Following Friday morning’s Benson Centre event in Cornwall, Jesse Winchester will join Spartacat and visit Ms. Jenna Harrison’s Grade 4 and 5 students at St. Columban’s Catholic School in Cornwall as part of the team’s Sens@School program. Sens@School is an online curriculum-based educational program designed to assist area elementary teachers to motivate students in an effort to reach their academic goals. Both Winchester and Sparty will interact with students, participate in a class photo and sign autographs for about 25 minutes.

Media representatives are asked to sign in at the school office upon arrival.

Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On!

Date: Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5
Location: Scotiabank Place, 1000 Palladium Drive, Lot # 4 and # 5
Times (approx.): Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Play On! 4-on-4 Street Hockey Tournament will take place this coming weekend at Scotiabank Place. The traveling sports festival will take place at 17 different locations across Canada this year. The Ottawa event will features 223 teams and more than 1,800 participants of all ages from across Ottawa-Gatineau. Round-robin games will be held on Saturday while playoff and championship games will be held on Sunday. The Senators will have interactive games set up for participants and their friends and family members to enjoy throughout the weekend. 8th Annual Microsoft Golf Classic in support of Autism


Sens Foundation staff members will be lending their support to the eighth annual Microsoft Golf Classic in support of Autism at the Marshes Golf Club on Tuesday, June 7.  Over the past seven years, this event has raised more than $250,000 for local autism charities, programming and support services. The event is open to the general public. Registration can be submitted at www.sensfoundation.com

Spartacat Appearances

Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will be visible throughout Ottawa on Saturday, June 4. Sparty will begin the day by attending the Enbridge Canoe for Kids event at Mooney’s Bay at 8:30 a.m. Additional info about the event is available at: http://www.christielakekids.com/canoe.htm

From 11 a.m. to noon, Spartacat will take part in the grand opening of the new Paul’s Pharmasave location at 990 River Road in Manotick, Ont. Sparty’s day continues at the Canadian Defence Community’s first Family Appreciation Day at Ottawa’s Uplands Grounds from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. before concluding with his participation at the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers walk at Carleton University (1125 Colonel By Drive) from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
