First look for fans at free open practice sponsored by Scotiabank
Puck Drop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include a number of activities, including the Senators used equipment sale, which will begin at 9 a.m. outside of Gate 1 at Scotiabank Place. The Senators street team will be on hand operating interactive games for fans. Access to the open practice and parking for the event are both free of charge. Fans are asked to support the Ottawa Food Bank and Kanata Food Cupboard by contributing a non-perishable food item or making a monetary donation.
The Senators heritage jersey will go on sale to the public for the first time immediately following the unveiling of the uniform, which will take place as part of the start of the Senators’ practice at 10:30 a.m.
“The Senators heritage jersey has been designed to pay tribute to the teams of the past and all of the elements of the uniform have been created to balance our the early history of the franchise with the present,” said Senators president Cyril Leeder. “We feel this uniform is a perfect fit to be part of the celebrations for our 20th anniversary season.”
The new jersey is currently able to be pre-ordered on www.ottawasenators.com as part of the Heritage Hockey Package. Those fans who order the new adult heritage jersey from any Sens Store will receive a vintage scarf and toque, plus a voucher for a pair of tickets to the regular-season game between Ottawa and the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, Oct. 13, the first game the team will wear the heritage jersey. The Heritage Hockey Package (a $ 214.98 value) is available for $129.99 plus tax. The heritage jersey will be available for purchase exclusively at Sens Store locations from Oct. 1 until Oct. 5.
20th anniversary websites announced
The Senators also announce two additional fan initiatives today, with the launch of a new Senators history site that takes an in-depth look at the last 20 years of the franchise, including season-by-season summaries, statistics, photos and video highlights. Sens fans can also discover the proud history of the original Ottawa Senators from the early years through 11 Stanley Cup wins and click through memorable moments in Ottawa hockey history. Fans can access the historical site by visiting www.ottawasenators.com/history.
The Senators also launched a special 20th anniversary photo mosaic that will allow fans to submit personal photos of their favourite hockey moments of the last 20 years. The website www.hockeymakesus.com is an online mosaic that encourages Sens fans to upload a photo and write short personal profiles that describe their own most memorable hockey moments.
Each photo becomes part of a larger picture that will eventually be revealed. As more photos are uploaded, fans can watch each mosaic grow, participate in contests and other prize draws throughout the season. Four separate mosaics will be revealed throughout the 2011-12 season. The first 20 fans to upload photos in the mosaic starting today will receive a 20th anniversary prize pack a pair of tickets to a home pre-season game, a Senators hat, a commemorative 20th anniversary pin and a 20th anniversary patch.
