OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators today announced the 59-player roster for the 2011-12 training camp and pre-season, sponsored by Canadian Tire local dealers, being held at Scotiabank Place and the Bell Sensplex, starting Friday, Sept. 16. The Senators training camp roster includes six goaltenders, 16 defencemen and 37 forwards.

Players report for medicals and physical fitness testing at Scotiabank Place Friday, Sept. 16, at 8:30 a.m. and then move to on-ice sessions at the Bell Sensplex on Saturday, Sept. 17. The team will be broken into three units, named after three members of the Sens alumni who played during the inaugural 1992-93 season: Laurie Boschman, Jim Kyte and Brad Marsh. Team Boschman will skate at 9 a.m. and 9:55 a.m., followed by Team Kyte at 10:40 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Team Marsh at 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

The list of camp invitees is built primarily around the Senators’ draft. Thirty-two were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, five were obtained in trades, 16 signed as free agents, four are on professional tryouts and two are on amateur tryouts. Twenty-four players lined up for at least one game with the Senators during the 2010-11 season, while another four suited up with other NHL squads. All 23 members of the recent rookie tournament in Oshawa, Ont., have been invited to camp.
