Bulletin: Senators welcome back 14 members of 1992-93 team as part of home-opener festivities
While the current Senators begin their 20th anniversary campaign on Friday, Oct. 7, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, the team will officially launch the first of many game-night tributes four nights later when the organization salutes members of the modern-day Senators’ return to NHL play in October 1992.
The following alumni are currently scheduled to participate: Dave Archibald, Laurie Boschman, Neil Brady (who scored the first goal in modern-day Senators history in a 5-3 home win over Montreal on Oct. 8, 1992), Gord Dineen, Mark Freer, Jody Hull, Bob Kudelski, Jim Kyte, Mark Lamb, Darcy Loewen, Norm Maciver, Brad Marsh, current Senators professional scout Rob Murphy and Mike Peluso.
“This is an event that I and my former teammates have looked forward to for a number of months,” said Boschman, the first captain in franchise history. “It doesn’t seem so long ago that we took to the ice that first night at the Civic Centre. The excitement level surrounding our reunion in Ottawa has brought back a number of great memories, which we look forward to sharing with both fans and the current team."
Each of the former Senators will be visible throughout Ottawa prior to the team’s home-opener on Oct. 11 against the Wild. Player-related initiatives will be announced at a later date.
