OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators are preparing to welcome back players from the team’s inaugural 1992-93 season to help kick off festivities surrounding the team’s Oct. 11 home opener against the Minnesota Wild at Scotiabank Place. This year’s home-opener will represent one of many season-related features and special promotions, including Ottawa’s hosting of the 2012 National Hockey League All-Star Game on Jan. 29.

While the current Senators begin their 20th anniversary campaign on Friday, Oct. 7, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, the team will officially launch the first of many game-night tributes four nights later when the organization salutes members of the modern-day Senators’ return to NHL play in October 1992.

The following alumni are currently scheduled to participate: Dave Archibald, Laurie Boschman, Neil Brady (who scored the first goal in modern-day Senators history in a 5-3 home win over Montreal on Oct. 8, 1992), Gord Dineen, Mark Freer, Jody Hull, Bob Kudelski, Jim Kyte, Mark Lamb, Darcy Loewen, Norm Maciver, Brad Marsh, current Senators professional scout Rob Murphy and Mike Peluso.

“This is an event that I and my former teammates have looked forward to for a number of months,” said Boschman, the first captain in franchise history. “It doesn’t seem so long ago that we took to the ice that first night at the Civic Centre. The excitement level surrounding our reunion in Ottawa has brought back a number of great memories, which we look forward to sharing with both fans and the current team."

Each of the former Senators will be visible throughout Ottawa prior to the team’s home-opener on Oct. 11 against the Wild. Player-related initiatives will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for all Senators home games can be purchased by visiting www.Capitaltickets.ca, by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267); in person at The Sens Store at Carlingwood Mall and Place d’Orléans, any Ottawa Sports Experts location, Les Galeries de Hull and at the Scotiabank Place box office.
