Bulletin: Senators to host red carpet event as part of opening night festivities

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced plans for their 2011-12 season home-opener, which will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11, when the team hosts the Minnesota Wild at Scotiabank Place.

Fans are encouraged to make their way to Scotiabank Place’s Gate 1 plaza by 4:30 p.m. to welcome the 2011-12 Senators as players walk the red carpet prior to entering the arena for that night’s game. Players will arrive at the front of the arena in limousines and fans can line the red carpet to interact with players and obtain photos as the Senators make their way into the arena.

In addition to the 25 members of the Senators current roster, 14 members of the Senators 1992-93 team, who will be attending the game as alumni, are to be specially introduced as part of the event by Senators public address announcer Stuntman Stu.

The TEAM 1200 Sens Squad will also be on hand pre-game at the Gate 1 plaza awarding prizes, including tickets to Tuesday night’s game, to randomly selected Senators fans who are displaying the team’s logo and colours.

Festivities to start early

As part of the opening night festivities, fans are also being encouraged to take their seats early for a special video montage that will take place inside the arena bowl just after 7:20 p.m. The group of Senators alumni and the Senators current team will be introduced in an on-ice ceremony beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Heritage jersey special

The Senators heritage jersey, which was introduced on Oct. 1 as part of the Puck Drop event at Scotiabank Place, remains on sale to fans exclusively at all three Sens Store locations. The Senators are offering a voucher for a pair of tickets to next Thursday’s Senators game against the Colorado Avalanche to fans who purchase the new adult heritage jersey online or from any Sens Store outlet. The game against Colorado will mark the team’s debut in the heritage jersey.

Tickets still available for opening night

There are currently fewer than 750 tickets remaining for the Senators home-opener on Oct. 11. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.CapitalTickets.ca, by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267); in person at The Sens Store at Carlingwood Mall and Place d’Orléans, any Ottawa Sports Experts location, Les Galeries de Hull and at the Scotiabank Place box office.
