Bulletin: Senators recall goaltender Robin Lehner from Binghamton (AHL)

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled goaltender Robin Lehner from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, on an emergency basis. He is being recalled to replace an injured Alex Auld.

Lehner, 20, has a record of 4-2-0 through games with the B-Sens this season. Last season, Lehner earned 14 of Binghamton’s 16 post-season wins in goal and was awarded the American Hockey League’s Jack Butterfield Trophy as playoff MVP after helping the B-Sens capture their first  Calder Cup. He also registered three playoff shutouts while posting a goals-against average of 2.10 and a .939 save percentage.

A native of Goteborg, Sweden, Lehner made his NHL debut by playing the opening 4:42 of the third period in Montreal on Oct. 16, 2010, making three saves on three shots. He later became the youngest goalie to start a game in Senators franchise history in a Jan. 13 road contest against the New York Islanders, turning aside 20 shots in a 6-4 Ottawa victory to record his first NHL win.

The Senators’ second of two second-round picks (46th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Lehner will join the Senators in advance of their 3 p.m. game today at Madison Square Garden in New York.
