OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, Dec. 16, to Thursday, Dec. 22.

Senators Sport Chek Shopping Excursion

Sport Chek is partnering with the Senators to help Christmas arrive early for a number of underprivileged local youth. Senators’ defenceman Jared Cowen, along with forwards Erik Condra and Colin Greening, will visit the Sport Chek location in the Kanata Centrum (801 Kanata Avenue, Kanata) on Monday, Dec. 19, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. to help children from the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa choose items including jackets, hockey sticks and other sporting goods that will enable them to enjoy the outdoors through the winter months. The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa was established in 1923 and maintains a primary goal of helping children and youth build self-esteem and stronger social skills.

This Holiday season, Sport Chek continues to meet the needs of Canadian families in providing them all that is required to stay physically active.

Napoli’s Café to host fundraiser supporting Roger’s House

Napoli’s Café, a family-owned and operated restaurant, will host its third annual fundraising event in support of the Sens Foundation on Monday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. Featuring dinner and a live auction, the evening will be hosted by Bassel and Milad Khalil, owners and operators of Napoli’s Café. Senators team president and Sens Foundation board member Cyril Leeder will be in attendance along with Senators players Chris Neil, the honorary chair of Roger’s House, and Nick Foligno.

The event has raised more than $50,000 since its inception three years ago. Monies from Monday’s fundraiser will support the Sens Foundation’s charity of choice, Roger’s House, an eight-bed pediatric residential hospice that welcomes children and youth with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Spartacat Appearances

The Ottawa Senators Novice Holiday Classic is being presented by WCMHA and KMHA at the Bell Sensplex from today through Sunday. Spartacat, the Senators ambassador of fun, will participate in the tournament’s ceremonial faceoff today at 12 noon at the Scotiabank Arena ice pad at the Bell Sensplex, when the Kanata Legendary Sharks and the Stittsville Warriors meet in a Novice C game.
