OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, Jan. 6, to Thursday, Jan. 12.

Scotiabank Girls Hockeyfest

The Senators and Scotiabank will host more than 240 female minor hockey players at Scotiabank Place this Saturday, Jan. 7 (9 a.m.- 4 p.m.) for Scotiabank Girls Hockeyfest, which will feature on-ice and off-ice skill development sessions along with a tour of Scotiabank Place. The clinic will be conducted by the Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team who will be joined by Sami Jo Small, who was a member of Canada’s 2002 and 2006 Olympic gold medal hockey teams. Small will assist with the on-ice skill development sessions and address the participants on Saturday at noon. Registration for the Scotiabank Girls Hockeyfest remains open until 1 p.m. on Friday.

Senators Alumni road game parties

Throughout the 2011-12 regular season, the Senators will be holding road game parties at Boston Pizza restaurants throughout the Ottawa area. A Senators alumni member will be on hand from the start of the game through the first intermission, mingling with fans and signing autographs at each event. The next party is set for Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m., when the Senators visit the Philadelphia Flyers. Senators Alumni member Doug Smith will be at Boston Pizza at 521 West Hunt Club Rd. in Ottawa.

Spartacat appearances

Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will visit the Dessureault Your Independent Grocer (1619 Orleans Ave., Gloucester, Ont.) on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. before proceeding to Ross’ Your Independent Grocer (3777 Strandherd Drive, Nepean, Ont.) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. that same afternoon. Saturday’s visits are being held in conjunction with the Senators’ corporate partnership with Coca-Cola.
