Bulletin: The Senators In Your Community From March 2 to March 8
Canadian Tire Jumpstart presents I Love To Skate program wrapup party
The Senators and Canadian Tire Jumpstart, in partnership with the Sens Foundation and the City of Ottawa, will host the end-of-year wrapup skating party for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart presents I Love To Skate program on Sunday, March 4, from noon to 2 p.m. at Scotiabank Place.
This will mark the conclusion of the second year of the I Love To Skate program partnership. It provides financially disadvantaged children in neighbourhoods across Ottawa with the opportunity to receive a pair of skates and helmet, in addition to skating lessons from qualified instructors at the city’s outdoor rinks. Sunday’s finale will see each of the 400 participants and members of their immediate families enjoy the opportunity to skate on the same ice surface as the Senators. To highlight I Love To Skate season’s successes, the participants and their families will be joined by dignitaries from Canadian Tire Jumpstart, the Sens Foundation and City of Ottawa.
Communities involved in the program were identified by the City of Ottawa through an application process, which later saw children obtain a voucher redeemable at a local Canadian Tire retailer to purchase the helmet and skates required to participate in the program.
