Bulletin: Senators re-sign forward Peter Regin to a one-year contract
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today the club has re-signed forward Peter Regin to a one-year, one-way contract.
Regin, 26, was limited to 10 regular season games in 2011-12 after injuring his left shoulder in a Dec. 20 home game against the Buffalo Sabres. He recorded four points (two goals, two assists) and two penalty minutes in those games.
A native of Herning, Denmark, Regin played played his first full National Hockey League season with the Senators in 2009-10, contributing 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 75 games. In six playoff contests against the Pittsburgh Penguins that season, he ranked first among Senators (tie) in goals with three and tied for third in post-season scoring with six points.
In parts of four NHL seasons (all with Ottawa), Regin has scored 19 goals while adding 33 assists in 151 career games. He made his NHL debut in the Senators’ 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Jan. 20, 2009, becoming only the fifth player born in Denmark to play in an NHL game.
Regin was Ottawa’s first third-round pick (87th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
