It's Ottawa's annual epic spring fling.
And with a record participation level of 42,205 spread across seven events, the 38th annual Tamarack Homes Ottawa Race Weekend was indeed the talk of the capital.
Among the entrants were a trio of staffers from Senators Sports & Entertainment. People department intern Erica Ryan, proudly wearing a Sens ball cap she said "gave me the courage and strength to cross the finish line," completed her third lifetime half-marathon and did it in a personal best time of 2:04.
While she didn't tackle the entire distance herself, SSE group sales account executive Caralynn Laszlo lent plenty of moral support to Samantha Anstey, a Sens season-seat owner through Vista Disability Management who completed the marathon event. Laszlo joined Anstey for the final seven kilometres of her run.
Meanwhile, fan and community development co-ordinator Emily Knight got in on the weekend fun by completing the 10K race — an event that attracted a whopping 10,691 entries, ranking second only behind the half-marathon (11,653) in terms of participation.
