News Release: Senators sign forward Clarke MacArthur to a two-year contract

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has signed forward Clarke MacArthur to a two-year contract.

MacArthur, 28, appeared in 40 of 48 possible contests in his third season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2012-13. He recorded 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists), 26 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating over that span. He also appeared in five post-season contests in Toronto’s opening-round playoff series against Boston registering two goals and one assist.

The 6-0, 195-pound, native of Lloydminster, Alta., began his National Hockey League career with the Buffalo Sabres, where he played parts of four seasons before being acquired by the Atlanta Thrashers on March 3, 2010. After concluding the 2009-10 season with Atlanta, he was signed by Toronto as a free agent on Aug. 28, 2010.

In 403 career regular-season NHL games with Buffalo, Atlanta and Toronto he has scored 93 goals and added 120 assists for 213 points in addition to recording 229 penalty minutes. Internationally, MacArthur helped Team Canada win the gold medal at the 2005 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in North Dakota, recording four points (four goals) over six games and tying for 10th in tournament scoring.

MacArthur was Buffalo’s third-round pick (74th overall) in the 2003 NHL Draft.
