News Release: Senators sign Carter Camper to a one-year, two-way contract

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed forward Carter Camper to one-year, two-way contract. In addition to Camper, the Senators formally announced the re-signings of forward Cole Schneider, defenceman Michael Sdao and defenceman Chris Wideman, all of whom the club had agreed to terms with at last week’s NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia.

Camper, 25, split last season between the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons. He played in 41 games with the Bruins before being trade from Boston’s organization to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 7. He completed the season by playing 19 games with the Falcons. Between both teams, the 5-9, 173-pound forward recorded 12 goals and added 39 assists for 51 points in 60 games. In five playoff games with Springfield, he registered one goal and four assists.

The native of Rocky River, Ohio, has scored one goal in three career National Hockey League games, all of which occurred during the 2011-12 season with Boston. In 189 career AHL games, he has scored 41 goals and 107 assists for 148 points, while adding 50 penalty minutes.

Schneider, 23, signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Senators. He recently completed his third professional season with the Binghamton Senators, setting career highs in goals (20), assists (34) and points (54). He played in all four of the B-Sens’ playoff games, recording two assists.

Sdao, 24, signed a two-year, two-way deal with Ottawa. He completed his first full season of professional hockey in 2013-14 with the B-Sens, recording 11 points (six goals, five assists) and 171 penalty minutes over 61 regular-season contests.

Wideman, 24, signed a one-year, two-way deal with the club. He completed his second season of professional hockey with Binghamton, setting career highs in all major statistical categories. He played in 73 games, scoring nine goals and adding 42 assists for 51 points, while recording 101 penalty minutes. His 51 points saw him rank fourth among all AHL defencemen in scoring. He played in each of the B-Sens four playoff games, scoring once and registering six penalty minutes.
