 Dean Brown
 Television/Radio play-by-play commentator
Born Nov. 3, 1961 (Winnipeg, Man.)

Dean Brown, the play-by-play commentator for Ottawa Senators broadcasts on Rogers Sportsnet and the Team 1200, has called every Senators game on TV or radio since the club’s inception in 1992.

Brown got his start in radio broadcasting as a news anchor at CKSL in London, Ont., where he soon found his niche in the sports department.

After a short stint in the Forest City, Brown moved to CFRA in Ottawa to cover the Canadian Football League’s Rough Riders, becoming the team’s play-by-player commentator.

When the National Hockey League returned to Ottawa in 1992, Brown found his calling as the voice of the Senators on CFRA and later the Team 1200. After stints with TSN as its Ottawa correspondent and also handling football and hockey for CBC, Brown joined the team at Rogers Sportsnet in 1998.

Brown’s career highlights to date include calling the 1989 Grey Cup between Saskatchewan and Hamilton, his first NHL call in 1992 and the final game of the New Jersey-Ottawa playoff series in 1998.

While growing up in rural Manitoba, Brown enjoyed a wide range of sports. Today, that passion still exists and when he’s not on-air, he keeps himself busy playing golf, scuba diving or playing floor hockey with his son.
