Jean Payette
Jean Payette, a native of Cornwall, played junior hockey in his hometown with the Royals of the Central Junior A Hockey League. The centre started his professional hockey career in the minors, splitting his time between the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Pro Hockey League and the Phoenix Roadrunners of the Western Hockey League. The birth of the WHA provided a new opportunity for Payette, who played two years with the Quebec Nordiques before retiring in 1975.
