Senators-Sabres Preview

GAME: Ottawa Senators (16-10-3-3) at Buffalo Sabres (12-18-2-1).

TIME: Tuesday, 7 p.m. EST.

Struggling to score goals and unable to stop the opposition, the Buffalo Sabres will try to avoid a franchise-record eighth straight loss when they host the Ottawa Senators.

Buffalo matched the previous team mark with its seventh straight loss Friday, dropping a 5-2 decision to the defending Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils. The Sabres have managed two goals or fewer in each game during the skid, and have surrendered at least three goals in six of those contests.

After a spirited first period in which they outshot the Devils 9-5, the Sabres fell apart over the final 20 minutes, surrendering five goals.

Buffalo has also lost five straight at home, managing just eight goals in those games.

"The frustration level is pretty high," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff admitted.

Buffalo has lost seven in a row four times during its history, the last coming during the 1993-94 season.

The Senators have won three in a row, including Monday's 3-2 overtime victory over Florida. Todd White scored the game-winner 1:34 into the extra session as Ottawa improved to 7-2-1 in December.

The Senators have not won four in a row since Oct. 17-25.

Ottawa defenseman Brian Pothier missed his third straight game Monday because of a concussion.
