GAME: Ottawa Senators (34-11-4) at New Jersey Devils (26-20-6).

TIME: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

A pair of standout goaltenders are expected to face off in Ottawa, where Dominik Hasek and the Senators host Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.

Brodeur, an eight-time All-Star, is second among active goaltenders with 427 wins and recorded four shutouts in January. Hasek, who has been an All-Star on five occasions, is fourth among active netminders with 322 wins and has two shutouts in his last three starts.

Brodeur has been idle since Friday, when the Devils lost 4-0 to the Florida Panthers for their second straight shutout loss. New Jersey also lost 1-0 in overtime Thursday at Tampa Bay and has not scored in more than seven periods.

"When you don't score a goal in two games it's disappointing," Devils general manager and interim coach Lou Lamoriello said. "We just weren't sharp, it's as simple as that."

The last time the Devils were shutout in consecutive games was Dec. 20-22, 1983. New Jersey runs the risk of getting shutout three straight times for the first time in franchise history when they face Hasek, who has five shutouts this season.

The Devils gained just three points on their four-game road trip, but Brodeur posted a 1.74 goals-against average and had a shutout. He has won five straight home games and is 14-5-2 with a 2.38 at Continental Airlines Arena this season.

Lifetime, Brodeur is 23-14-4 with a 2.03 GAA against the Senators.

Offensively, Devils center Scott Gomez has five goals and nine assists in his last seven home games.

Hasek watched his backup, Ray Emery, lose 5-0 Monday to the Boston Bruins. The Senators, who lead the league with 200 goals, had 44 shots but were unable to avoid their fourth shutout loss of the season.

Emery made his first appearance since Jan. 7, and made 19 saves. He is 2-4-1 since setting an NHL record Nov. 29, when he won his ninth straight win to begin his career.

Daniel Alfredsson had a six-game point streak snapped by the shutout, recording five goals and six assists in that span.

Center Jason Spezza has three goals and eight assists in his last eight games, and leads the team with 40 assists.

Hasek, who turned 41 Sunday, had started each of Ottawa's eight previous games (6-1-1) before Monday's loss. He leads the league with a 1.97 GAA, and is 6-1-0 in his last seven starts against the Devils with a 1.29 GAA and three shutouts.

Hasek's last game against Brodeur was a 4-1 loss on Dec. 1, 2001, when he played for the Detroit Red Wings.
