PENGUINS (24-10-2) at SENATORS (15-17-4)

TV — FS-P (HD), SNET-E (HD)

Last 10 —
Pittsburgh 8-2-0; Ottawa 4-3-3

Season Series — This is the third of four meetings. The Penguins took the first two matchups at Consol Energy Center, 5-2 on Oct. 18 and 2-1 on Nov. 26.

Big Story — The Senators are 1-4-2 in their last seven at Scotiabank Place, while the Penguins are 8-1-0 in their last nine road games.

Team Scope:

Penguins — After having their 12-game winning streak snapped with two straight losses, the Pens have won three straight. They are coming off an emotional 3-2 shootout win against the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Sidney Crosby extended his points streak to 23 games with a goal in that game.

"I try not to think about it, just go out there and do the same thing every night and hope that I capitalize and create things," Crosby said. "You've still got to evaluate your game. It's not always based on points."

Senators — Brian Elliott's 25 saves don't sound like a lot, but the Senators needed all of them to emerge with a 2-1 road victory against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

"You need to have the goaltender be your backbone," coach Cory Clouston said. "He doesn't always have to win you games, but he needs to be solid and give you confidence. When your goaltender does that it allows you to play your game a lot more relaxed and a lot more comfortable."

Meanwhile, one of the guys in front of Elliott, veteran defenceman Chris Phillips, plays his 900th career NHL game tonight. Only captain Daniel Alfredsson (1,038) has dressed for more games in an Ottawa uniform.

Who's Hot — Crosby's streak is impressive, but Evgeni Malkin has five goals and five assists in his last five games … Ottawa's Chris Kelly has two goals and four assists in his last six games.

Injury Report — Backup goalie Brent Johnson will be questionable with a lower-body injury. Winger Arron Asham was held out of the game with the Caps due to an undisclosed injury … Starting goalie Pascal Leclaire has missed two straight games with a lower-body injury and won't dress again tonight. Mike Brodeur has been recalled from Binghamton (AHL) to back up Elliott.

Stat Pack — Crosby has the league's longest points streak since 1992-93, when Quebec's Mats Sundin had a 30-game run … The Sens' power play is heating up, going 4-for-17 the past four games.

Puck Drop — "Without (Marc-Andre Fleury) and his play, it's a much different outcome," Crosby said. "At the start, at the end, all the way through — he was a big part of us finding a way to win tonight."
