Season series —
This is the sixth and final meeting between these Northeast Division rivals. Boston took four of the first five meetings by a combined score of 15-2. The Bruins earned a 1-0 victory in the most recent meeting on March 1 as Tuukka Rask made 33 saves. Nathan Horton scored the lone goal early in the third period.

Big story — The third-seeded Bruins are still holding out hope they can supplant second-seeded Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Flyers held a two-point advantage over the Bruins entering Friday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres. Following their game against the Senators, the Bruins travel to Newark to face the Devils on Sunday. The Flyers close out the regular season on Saturday at home against the Islanders.

Team Scope:

Senators — Ottawa will look to close out the 2010-11 campaign with its third straight win against a playoff-bound opponent. The Senators scored a 5-2 victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday and notched a 3-2 decision over the Montreal Canadiens in their final home game on Thursday. Trailing 1-0 entering the third, the Senators scored twice before allowing the game to slip into overtime when Montreal's Mike Cammalleri scored with just 11 seconds left in regulation. Filip Kuba then connected for his second of the season 1:16 into the extra period to send the Ottawa fans home happy.

A moment of silence was observed prior to the game in memory of EJ McGuire, the vice-president of NHL Central Scouting. McGuire, who died of cancer Thursday at the age of 58, was an assistant coach for the Senators' first three seasons from 1992-95.

Bruins —
The Bruins handed out annual awards before Wednesday's 3-2 triumph over the Islanders, which gave them 100 points for the 19th time in franchise history. Forward Shawn Thornton won the Eddie Shore Award given for hustle; goalie Tim Thomas won the Elizabeth Dufresne Trophy, given by the local media for outstanding performance in home games; defenceman Andrew Ference won the John P. Bucyk Award, chosen by Bucyk for charitable endeavors; and Thomas, centre Patrice Bergeron and power forward Milan Lucic were chosen as the first, second and third stars for home games.

Who's hot — Ottawa centre Jason Spezza has 9 goals and 22 points in the last 14 games. Spezza is one point shy of equaling his 2009-10 total. He has produced 21 goals, 56 points in 61 games this season.

Injury report — The Bruins have no significant injuries to report … Ottawa is without goalie Pascal Leclaire (hip), defencemen Matt Carkner (knee), Sergei Gonchar (concussion) and Erik Karlsson (thigh laceration) and forwards Daniel Alfredsson (back), Peter Regin (shoulder) and Marek Svatos (concussion).

Stat pack —
Bruins right wing Mark Recchi played in his 1,651st NHL game in a 3-2 victory over the Islanders on Wednesday, tying Chris Chelios for fourth place on the NHL's all-time list.

Puck drop -- "The playoffs are right around the corner so we need to get ready for that, not really think about what we've done," Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara said. "Just move forward."
