Chicago Blackhawks 1, Ottawa Senators 6 FINAL

OTTAWA (AP) -- Ray Emery's home debut went almost as well as the young Ottawa Senators goaltender could've hoped for.

Things went equally bad for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Emery made 27 saves to lift the Senators to a 6-1 victory Thursday night over the Senators.

"I was pretty nervous at the start, but I was fortunate we got some pretty early goals and it made it easier," said the 21-year-old Emery, who made just his second NHL start.

"I felt pretty good and as the game went on, I got more confident. I was seeing all the shots. The guys were breaking out and they did a lot of good things."

Marian Hossa scored two goals and set up another for the Senators. Martin Havlat had a goal and two assists, and Daniel Alfredsson scored his 200th NHL goal and added an assist.

Wade Redden and Radek Bonk had the other goals as the Senators beat the Blackhawks at home for the first time since Nov. 30, 1999.

Mark Bell scored for Chicago, winless in three games. The Blackhawks have won just once in 18 games.

Michael Leighton stopped 26 shots for the Blackhawks, who haven't won on the road since a 2-1 decision in Nashville on Nov. 7.

"They have a great offensive team and their going to get those chances," Leighton said. "It's just a matter of how you defend it and they just found wide-open guys."

Senators coach Jacques Martin was behind the bench for the 800th game of his career. He improved to 377-309-112.

Ottawa forward Petr Schastlivy, playing for the first time in eight games because of an injury to Vaclav Varada, received a cut on his face from his visor after he ran into a shoulder check by defenseman Nathan Dempsey late in the first period and didn't return.

Chicago defenseman Jason Strudwick also left in the first period with a shoulder injury and didn't return.

Before the opening faceoff, a moment of silence was observed in memory of former Blackhawks great Keith Magnuson, killed in a car crash Monday.

Leighton was busy throughout. He had to stop Peter Schaefer from point-blank range three minutes in to keep it scoreless and then blocked Alfredsson on a breakaway a few shifts later.

However, he couldn't save Redden's slap shot from the point after a faceoff win in the Chicago zone and Ottawa led 5:55 in.

Alfredsson became just the second Senators player to score 200 goals when he beat Leighton at 5:42 of the second to make it 2-0.

After Havlat scored on a breakaway at 15:35, Bell cut the lead to 3-1 with just over a minute left in the period.

Ottawa scored twice within 15 seconds to put the game away in the third.

"We needed a big win," Alfredsson said. "(Emery) was real solid, he could have had a shutout, but we made a little mistake and he had no chance on their goal."

Bonk stuffed in a rebound six minutes into the period and Hossa took advantage of a turnover in front of Leighton at 6:15.

Four minutes later, Hossa scored from the right during a power play.
