Flames 6, Senators 3

CALGARY - Rene Bourque scored three goals for his first NHL hat trick, and the Flames beat the Ottawa Senators 6-3 on Saturday night.

Andre Roy, Adrian Aucoin and Todd Bertuzzi added goals, and Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves for Calgary. The Flames have earned points in seven straight games (4-0-3) to open a three-point lead over Vancouver atop the Northwest Division.

Chris Phillips, Jason Spezza and Alexandre Picard scored for Ottawa, 0-9-2 in its last 11 road games and 0-2-0 on its eight-game trip.

"We're obviously not happy where we are right now, but I thought we played a pretty decent hockey game aside from a couple of breakdowns," said Spezza. "But everything they shot went in there once they got the lead."

After Phillips and Spezza gave Ottawa a 2-0 lead in the second period, Bourque tied it with two goals in a 58-second span. Bourque's third goal of the game and 14th of the season made it 5-3 with 5:35 left in the third period.

"He's a goal scorer," said Aucoin. "That release. His strength. He doesn't get knocked off the puck too easily. I played with him in Chicago and I've always known how well he can shoot the puck. He's a big guy and he skates really well."

Notes: Bourque had a career-high 16 goals as a rookie in 2005-06 with Chicago ... Ottawa C Cody Bass did not return after appearing to have injured his shoulder during a first period fight with Calgary's Eric Nystrom ... With Ottawa D Anton Volchenkov (upper body) sidelined, D Brian Lee was recalled from Binghamton (AHL) ... Kiprusoff is 4-0-0 against Ottawa ... The Senators' road trip continues Sunday night in Vancouver against the Canucks (10 p.m., Rogers Sportsnet East, Team 1200).
