Sens aim to avoid fourth straight loss against L.A.
Los Angeles Kings vs. Ottawa Senators
KINGS (13-6-0) at SENATORS (9-10-1)

TV -- PRIME (HD), SNET-E (HD)

Last 10 -- Los Angeles 7-3-0; Ottawa 5-5-0.

Season series -- This is the first and only meeting between these cross-conference clubs. While these teams typically play each other only once a season, Los Angeles has taken three straight from Ottawa dating back to 2007-08.

Big Story -- The Kings hope to build off of Saturday's 4-3 shootout win at Boston, while the Senators aim to end a three-game losing streak. Los Angeles also seeks a fourth consecutive win over the Senators.

Team Scope:

Kings -- Los Angeles had won five in a row before they hit a three-game skid against San Jose, Columbus and Buffalo this past week. But the Kings remain at the top of the Pacific Division as they salvaged two points in the shootout after blowing a 3-0 second-period lead against the Bruins on Saturday. Monday marks the third stop of a four-game road trip for the Kings.

Following Saturday's inconsistent performance by goalie Jonathan Quick, head coach Terry Murray was asked whether he would rethink his plan in which he had Quick penciled in as the regular starter and backup Jonathan Bernier filling in for about one start a week.

"It's getting close to (having to reconsider),'' Murray said. "I might wait for that decision (until) after we get back from this road trip.''

Senators -- Just like the Kings, Ottawa began November as one of the League's hottest teams, having won four in a row to begin the month. But now the Sens are reeling, as they dropped four of their last five and are in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

There haven't been many redeeming factors in the recent losses at St. Louis, Carolina and Philadelphia as the Sens were outscored by a total of 17-4 over those three games.

This coming week is quite busy for the Sens as they will play four games, three of which are at home.

Who's Hot -- For the Kings, Michal Handzus has two goals over his last three games, including a regulation tally and the game-winning shootout goal over Boston. Sens' captain Daniel Alfredsson has three points (2g, 1a) over his last four games.

Injury Report -- Kings forward Scott Parse was placed on injured reserve Friday and will schedule hip surgery at some point during the coming week. Ottawa has reported that defenseman Erik Karlsson is ill and will be a game-time decision tomorrow. Head coach Corey Clouston had mentioned in Sunday's off-day media scrum that David Hale is a potential replacement for Karlsson.

Stat Pack -- If there is a trace of a silver lining to the Senators' recent rough patch, it's that they have converted 12 of 49 power-play chances after an 0-for-17 start to the season.

Puck Drop -- It's getting to the point where the Senators need to make some lineup changes if they hope to reach the same level they were at during the beginning of November.

"We juggled our lines a lot," said Clouston at Sunday's presser. "It's not acceptable. Our last game, we had a good first period, then we got off page for a good five minutes and it cost us a game. So we have to start creating some offense, but we also have to be responsible defensively."
