SENATORS (4-6-4) at BLUE JACKETS (5-8-0)
TV: SNET-E, FS-O
Last 10: Senators 3-5-2; Columbus 3-7-0
Season series: This is the first of three between the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets, but the first time the teams have played since Oct. 22, 2011, when the Senators won 4-3 in Ottawa.
Big story: The Senators come in winless in five straight and will be without goalie Craig Anderson who sustained a neck injury in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
Senators: The Senators trailed 2-0 and 3-2 Sunday but sent the game to overtime when Bobby Ryan scored with 9.8 seconds left in regulation. But they couldn’t beat Kari Lehtonen in the shootout and dropped to 0-3-2 in their past five games. Their last win came Oct. 23 against the Detroit Red Wings.
Anderson stopped 33 of 36 shots before Valeri Nichushkin crashed into him in overtime. Anderson was removed from the ice on a stretcher.
"It's scary," Ryan said. "It's one of those plays that I think it's even worse when you see the replay and the way he kind of got jammed in there. You never want to see it but it's just a kid going to the net hard and you can't really do anything about it, but it's certainly in the back of your mind for the next four minutes, whatever it was."
Robin Lehner relieved Anderson and made two saves in overtime and stopped one of two attempts in the shootout. The 22-year-old is 0-2-2 with a 2.73 goals-against average and .938 save percentage in five games.
Blue Jackets: Columbus comes in having lost three in a row, including back-to-back games against the Pittsburgh Penguins over the weekend, getting outscored 7-2. Saturday saw them lose 3-0 loss while putting just 19 shots on goal.
"We weren't as hungry as they were," Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky said. "Until we grow up and mature as a team it's going to be tough. You've got to be a good professional. ... We simply weren't good enough."
Jeff Zatkoff earned his first NHL win for the Penguins while Curtis McElhinney had 24 saves in the loss for the Blue Jackets.
"I'm disappointed we wasted a performance like [McElhinney's]. We didn't test their young goalie," Columbus coach Todd Richards said.
Who's hot: The Senators' Kyle Turris has a goal and four assists in his past four games and Ryan has two goals and four points in two games. … Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski had a five-game point streak (one goal, six assists) snapped in the loss Saturday.
Injury report: In addition to Anderson, the Senators will be without forward Erik Condra (leg). … For the Blue Jackets, Nathan Horton (shoulder), Cody Bass (thumb) and Matt Calvert (abdomen) are on injured reserve and Boone Jenner is out with a leg injury.
