TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - No Dominik Hasek, no problem so far for the surging Ottawa Senators.

Ray Emery stopped 31 shots for his second shutout of the season and the Senators beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0 Monday night.

Emery, filling in for the injured Hasek, helped the Senators win their fifth straight game. Hasek, a six-time Vezina Trophy winner, injured his groin 5 minutes into his first Olympic game with the Czech Republic on Feb. 15.

"Ray really battles and is playing well," Ottawa coach Bryan Murray said. "He looks very confident now in his play. They had some chances and he did a real good job. Emery just wouldn't give anything up."

Antoine Vermette, Jason Spezza, Mike Fisher and Peter Schaefer scored for the Northeast Division-leading Senators. Ottawa is 37-0 when scoring four or more goals.

Sean Burke made 30 saves for Tampa Bay. The defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning, who open a five-game road trip Tuesday at Pittsburgh, have been outscored 18-4 in three consecutive losses since the end of the Olympic break.

"Right now, we've got to find a way to win, home or away," Burke said. "We've got to find that formula again and start putting some points on the board."

The Lightning are seventh in the Eastern Conference, but are only four points ahead of ninth-place Atlanta.

"I thought we played with more energy, I thought we did better things tonight," Lightning coach John Tortorella said. "Both teams had some opportunities. They scored on a couple. We didn't."

Vermette put the Senators up 1-0 at 2:35 of the first. He scored from the low slot off a pass from Christoph Schubert following a Lightning turnover.

Emery made 13 saves in the first, including in-close shots by Ryan Craig and Vinny Prospal during a Tampa Bay power play.

"Sean Burke was a huge idol of mine as a kid, so I was really excited to play against him," Emery said. "I'm excited every time I get a chance to play right now. It's a new experience for me."

Ottawa went ahead 3-0 in the second on goals 1:31 apart by Spezza (11:38) and Fisher (13:09). Schaefer made it 4-0 with 12:41 left in the third.

Tampa Bay right wing Evgeny Artyukhin received a match penalty at 17:53 of the second during a scrum after he checked Vermette into the boards. He hit Vermette, who was given a roughing minor, in head with a helmet.

"I've never seen a player take it off the other players head and then hit him over the head with it," Murray said. "I don't know why the kid did that. I don't know what was going on there even."

Vermette required several stitches for a cut on the top of his head.

"I was shocked, but at the same time I've been playing a little bit against the guy and I've seen some stuff you don't want to see in the game," Vermette said.

The NHL will review the matter for a possible suspension. Artyukhin was not available for comment.

"What's wrong with that guy?" Schubert said. "It has nothing to do with sport, I guess. I think it's just stupid. There's no explanation."

Notes: Ottawa is 17-2-1-0 in its last 20 games against the Lightning. ... Fisher has a career-high 20 goals. ... Lightning RW Rob DiMaio didn't play because of a lower back injury. ... Ottawa RW Dany Heatley extended his point streak to five games with an assist on Spezza's goal. He has four assists and seven points during the stretch.
