BOSTON — David Krejci scored his first NHL goal, and Tim Thomas stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season to lead the Boston Bruins to their fourth consecutive win, a 4-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

Former Senators blueliner Zdeno Chara scored twice, including an empty-netter, and Shawn Thornton also hit the scoresheet for the Bruins, who stood pat at the NHL's trade deadline and won for the fifth time in six games.

Martin Gerber made 25 saves for the Senators, who acquired ex-Bruin Martin Lapointe from the Chicago Blackhawks for a sixth-round draft choice. He was not with the team Tuesday but is expected to play Thursday night, when the Senators face the Flyers at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia (7 p.m., Sens TV, Team 1200).

The Senators, who lead the NHL with 210 goals, were shut out for the second consecutive game. Ottawa has won just twice in its last eight games to fall into second place in the East after leading the conference for much of the season.

Boston scored first 5:24 into the game when Vladimir Sobotka dug the puck out of the corner and centred it to Thornton, who poked it between Gerber's legs. Krejci made it 2-0 with 2:37 left in the first period when he knocked in the rebound of Peter Schaefer's shot.

Chara's slap shot made it 3-0 with a power-play goal 2:15 into the second period.

Ottawa pulled the goalie with more than two minutes left and a power-play opportunity, but Chara added an empty-netter with 83 seconds left from inside the Bruins' zone.

Notes: The Bruins returned from a five-game (4-0-1) road trip and play six of their next seven at home. Ottawa plays six of its next seven games on the road ... The Senators won three of the first four meetings between the teams this season.
