OTTAWA - Dany Heatley had a goal and two assists and the Ottawa Senators got first-period goals from each member of the Pizza Line in a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday night.
Brendan Bell added his first goal in six games with Ottawa in the second, and Alex Auld stopped 22 shots.
The Senators improved to 3-1-2 in their last six games following a skid that saw them lose four straight in regulation.
Eric Boulton scored his first goal in 47 games for Atlanta, which lost 5-4 in Montreal on Tuesday night. The Thrashers have lost five in a row (0-4-1) and eight of nine.
Boulton scored his first goal in 47 games 1:35 after Heatley's goal to draw Atlanta even. Spezza got his eighth goal on a power play at 6:12 to restore Ottawa's lead.
Alfredsson, who assisted on Heatley's goal, made it 3-1 when he scored his seventh goal at 15:31. The Ottawa captain recovered the puck with his backhand after Heatley flicked it ahead and moved it to his forehand before slipping it under Ondrej Pavelec's left pad.
Bell scored Ottawa's second power-play goal 18:54 into the second for his first NHL goal since Jan. 20.
Donovan added the Senators' fifth goal 16:29 into the third.
Many spectators in the Scotiabank Place crowd of 17,215 got a shock when they witnessed a 21-year-old man falling about 25 feet from the 300-level seating to the level below during the second intermission.
According to Senators president and CEO Roy Mlakar, the young man, who was not inebriated, tripped over a purse and sailed headfirst past and over a few stunned onlookers in the rows ahead of his seat before clearing the low railing at the bottom of the 300-level and falling onto a woman in the level immediately below.
Mlakar said neither spectator was seriously injured in the mishap, with both being taken to Queensway-Carleton Hospital as a precaution. Both suffered lacerations, he added, with the woman also dealing with a "somewhat stiff neck" but "it appears to be not serious at all."
"Naturally, all of these people are somewhat startled," said Mlakar. "It's never happened before in 13 years of Scotiabank Place (being open)."
Notes: Thrashers D Mathieu Schneider missed his second straight game because of an upper body injury ... The Senators' top line acquired its nickname from a pizza chain promotion that originally kicked in when Ottawa scored five goals in a game. It was subsequently raised to six goals.
