OTTAWA - Jason Spezza scored 12 seconds in for Ottawa's fastest goal ever from the start of a game before setting up Mike Comrie's second-period goal and helping the Senators to a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Spezza broke Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson's previous mark of 13 seconds when he beat Edmonton defenceman Tom Gilbert to a loose puck and drove in to shoot past Dwayne Roloson for his 23rd goal.

Dany Heatley and Chris Campoli also scored for Ottawa, which ended a three-game losing streak. Brian Elliott had 24 saves.

Sam Gagner scored twice and Roloson stopped 28 shots for Edmonton, which dropped its second in a row after falling behind 3-0.

Newcomers Ales Kotalik and Patrick O'Sullivan made their Oiler debuts after the two forwards were acquired Wednesday prior to the NHL trade deadline.

Kotalik was acquired in a trade with Buffalo. O'Sullivan came over from Los Angeles in a three-way deal that saw the Oilers send Erik Cole to Carolina.

Comrie made it 2-0 when he scored off a cross-ice feed from Spezza 4:04 into the second period. Campoli increased the lead to 3-0 when he was credited with his seventh goal at 6:06.

Heatley scored his 31st goal with 8:01 left in the third.

Gagner scored a power-play goal midway through the second to draw Edmonton within 3-1. He added his second of the game and ninth of the season when he beat Elliott with a backhand from a sharp angle with 1:53 remaining.

Senators forward Peter Regin left the game with a lower body injury and did not return.

Notes: Alfredsson scored 13 seconds into a 5-4 overtime loss to Toronto on Feb. 5, 2004. Alexandre Daigle scored seven seconds into the second period of a 3-3 tie in a road game against the New York Islanders on Jan. 22, 1995 for the fastest goal from the start of a period in franchise history ... Oilers D Steve Staios and C Shawn Horcoff presented Senators D Jason Smith with a gift during a pre-game ceremony for Smith's recent 1,000th career game, while Senators president/CEO gave the veteran blueliner the NHL Milestone Award on behalf of the league and a framed Tony Harris portrait from the Ottawa organization. The former Edmonton captain reached the milestone in Ottawa's 3-2 overtime loss in Colorado on Feb. 17.
