OTTAWA - Mikhail Grabovski had a goal and two assists, and Darryl Boyce and Clarke MacArthur scored in the third to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 pre-season win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

Boyce's goal 1:35 into the third gave Toronto its first lead at 4-3. Grabovski set up MacArthur's goal for his third point with 1:57 remaining. He also scored a short-handed goal 14:31 in to help Toronto overcome a 2-0 deficit and assisted on Nikolai Kulemin's tally, which drew Toronto even at 3-3 at 12:05 of the second.

John-Michael Liles' power-play goal 18:11 into the first tied it at 2-2. James Reimer stopped 32 shots for Toronto, which evened its record at 3-3.

"Obviously not the first period we would have liked to had, and specifically me," Reimer said. "It was a bit of a tough one but I liked the way we battled back. We never got scrambly or panicky, really. We settled down nicely in the second and third and played our game, and we were lucky enough to come out with the win."

Nick Foligno's goal 18:32 into the first put Ottawa up 3-2. Mika Zibanejad and Zack Smith also scored for the Senators (2-3-1) as the provincial rivals combined for five goals in the second half of the opening period. Robin Lehner made 26 saves.

"I felt we had a real good start to the game," Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said. "We wanted to come out and get a lead, and we did. We played really well through the first half of the first period. We took a penalty and got into some trouble but as the game wore on, I thought we started to skate less and less and we ended up playing too much time in our end again, and our structure wasn't there to save us."

Zibanejad, who was chosen sixth overall by Ottawa in the 2011 draft, has three goals in five games.

"I will continue to watch him, and watch him, and watch him," MacLean said.

"He's fun to watch and we think he's playing really well and we're going to make a decision in the next couple of weeks and decide if he's ready to play in the NHL, and he's certainly making the decision hard to do."

Senators center Peter Regin left the game in the first and did not return.

"He injured his shoulder and that's all I know at this point," MacLean said. "I don't know a time frame or anything like that. He didn't come back to the game, so it was serious enough to keep him out of the game but this is exhibition games. We'll know (Wednesday)."
